Once again, BKO contributed to the annual Berkshire Sports Games by running the orienteering component of this multisport day. Based at Bisham Abbey, schools which have made it through the qualifying rounds in each district council area compete in the final. ….

13 May 2019 - BKO Newsletter May 2019 now distributed

The May issue of the Berkshire Orienteers Newsletter is now available for members.  Those members having the pdf version should have recieved copies by e-mail over the weekend.  The printed copies were available for collection at the Rushall Woods event on Sunday but, if you missed the event or did not notice the box, all remaining copies are being posted today.  In line with club policy, all previous issues are made available on this website so non-members can now see the March 2019 issue which has just been added to the site - see the Newsletter tab at the top of the page.

12 May 2019 - Rushall Woods at its best

Today we staged our regional South Central Orienteering League Event (SCOL6) in Rushall Woods near Bradfield. It was a glorious day - warm and sunny - and the woods were at their best for orienteering. Although the bluebells were past their best, they were still giving plenty of colour. The colour-coded courses provided navigational challenges for all ages and abilities. ….

17 March 2019: BKO steps up a gear for the CompassSport Cup

Each year, the club competes against other clubs in the region in a heat for the national CompassSport Cup.  Under the leadership of Club Captain, Martin Wilson, the last few years have seen a steady improvement in our showing at this this event.  Having been often seen as the weakest club in the region, Martin has gradually shown us that we can take on, and beat, some of the local competition.  This year saw us competing in the New Forest against strong teams from Southern Navigators, Thames Valley OC and the home team of Southampton OC.  It was a great team effort involving members of all

16 March 2019: Swinley West - CANCELLED

Unfortunately, due to problems with permissions for our event scheduled for 16th March at Swinley East, we have reluctantly had to cancel the event.

Our next scheduled event is the JK festival in April.

6 March 2019 - Club Newsletter gains further awards

The arrival of the February issue of CompassSport magazine this week brought good news for the club.  In the annual ‘Newsletter Awards’ announced in the issue, the Berkshire Orienteers Newsletter was recognised for 3 different reasons.

8 February 2019: AGM and Annual Dinner

The club held its AGM and Annual Dinner on Friday, 8th February – an event attended by a slightly reduced number of members this year since several regulars are currently travelling abroad. Simon Moore chaired the AGM but had already indicated his intention to stand down from the position of Chairman. ….
