The British Championships in the Forest of Dean were held on the 18th-19th April. The Long Distance event was on the Saturday and the Relay Championships on the Sunday. Our only podium position was Adam Methven who gained second place in M10A – the same position as at the JK. A great run against tough competition. More details on both events in the May Newsletter.

Saturday 2nd May – Summer Urban Park Challenge
This coming weekend sees the start of our Summer Urban Park Challenge events – a short series of four local events using local parks and urban terrain. These are informal events and provide an ideal opportunity for you to bring your friends along to find out what orienteering actually involves This first event is at Sandhurst Memorial Park. Registration will be from 10:00am - 11:00am with starts from 10:30am - 11:30am. Any help would also be appreciated if you can spare some time. Summer Training - Wednesday Evenings
Our series of Summer Training events on Wednesday evenings starts this week! This first evening is using Wildridings in Bracknell for some urban training in advance of the British Sprint Championships on the 9th May (there are 30 BKO entries) or our event on the 30th May. It’s a good opportunity to sort out your urban techniques before then. Meet at the car park at the end of the road called Netherton (Grid Ref: SU862683 / Postcode: RG12 7DX). Starts are from 18.30 to 19.00. There will be a 1.7km course suitable for juniors/beginners and two loops around 2.5km for the more experienced (crossing busy roads so no unaccompanied juniors on these two). No controls, all sites are lamp posts so you need to record the lamp post numbers.

Saturday 16th May - South West Sprint Orienteering Championship - Wimborne, Dorset
Interested in sprint orienteering? Although further than our usual recommendations, one to consider is the SW Sprint Championships taking place in Wimborne Minster.
