27 June 2018 - Orienteering at the Berkshire School Games

Bisham Abbey was the location for the finals of the 2018 Berkshire School Games which included orienteering.  Teams from primary schools across the different district council areas in Berkshire had competed in earlier heats and one from each district had made the final.  Each team consisted of 12 children and they tackled the course as 6 pairs.  The early part of the course took the contestants around a busy part of the grounds where other sports were taking place.  However from control 4 they had to navigate to controls placed around the golf course and this provided quite a technical challenge with good map reading proving invaluable for a fast time.  Congratulations to St Edmund Campion Primary (from Maidenhead) who won the event and to Binfield Primary (from Bracknell) who came second.
