Each year, the club competes against other clubs in the region in a heat for the national CompassSport Cup. Under the leadership of Club Captain, Martin Wilson, the last few years have seen a steady improvement in our showing at this this event. Having been often seen as the weakest club in the region, Martin has gradually shown us that we can take on, and beat, some of the local competition. This year saw us competing in the New Forest against strong teams from Southern Navigators, Thames Valley OC and the home team of Southampton OC. It was a great team effort involving members of all ages - a stong showing of the juniors from St Andrew's School, Pangbourne, was a great help. And the result? Although we were not strong enough to overcome the strength of the Sounthern Navigator's team (with 2435 points), with our score of 2369 points we managed to take second place ahead of TVOC (on 2360 points) and SOC (on 2323 points). Well done everyone - a great team effort. The first place is within our reach! For photos of some of the BKO members taken near the finish, see: BKO CompassSport Cup Photos 2019.
