As required by the club's constitution, each February the club holds it Annual General Meeting allowing club members to hear a report from the Chairman, to hear about the financial state of the club from the Treasurer, to elect the club's officials and committee for the coming year and to present awards to selected individuals. As an added attraction, the AGM is followed by the Annual Dinner.
A good group of enthusiastic members attended the AGM at Sand Martins Golf Club on the evening of the 7th February. The Chairman (Stefan Stasiuk) took us though the key happenings of 2019 with the Treasurer (Peter Entwistle) reporting that the club had recorded a deficit for 2019 but that overall the financial situation remains healthy. The appointment of the new officers and committee followed with all those from 2019 being re-appointed. However there was one positive change - James Wilkinson indicated a willingness to take on the vacant position of 'Development Officer' and this was warmly received and he was duly appointed. The Derek Harding Award for services to the club was awarded to Denise Harper for her work in promoting orienteering to schools for many years; Jim's Jug which is awarded to the junior considered to have made most progress during the year was awarded to Adam Methven. Congratulations to them both.
The evening was completed with a relaxed annual dinner allowing members to discuss their own highlights and plans for the coming year.
