27 March: BKO Update

It has been just over 2 weeks since my last Update but the CompassSport Cup heat seems much longer ago than that now.  There will be a report in the next Newsletter but just to let you know that, although not qualifying for the final, the club retuned an excellent performance.  37 members competed providing enough qualifying runners to give us the full 25 counting scores.  We just managed to beat DEVON although SOC were just ahead of us with BOK leading the field as expected.  Our thanks to Martin Wilson who used great tactical skill to achieve what must be the club’s best performance, at least for many years.  He is already planning how to go one better next year! Other Club’s Events

Sunday 29th March – BADO SCOA League Event

On Sunday there will be the next regional SCOA League event being held by BADO at Butterwood, just to the SW of Hook.  Pre-entries have closed with 28 BKO members signed up for the event.  There is however limited entry on the day – best to go early if you want to run a popular course.  For final details, see the BADO website: Click Here

Members wishing to relax and socialise after the event are recommended to meet at the Fox & Goose public house in Greywell, adjacent to the event Assembly. If the weather is suitable, the pub landlord expects to provide a Barbeque, however the pub will welcome all participants after their runs.

British Championships

Saturday 18th April – Individual Championships - Forest of Dean

Guaranteed entry to this major competition closes on Sunday although late entries will still be available but at a significantly increased cost and only whilst maps are available.  19 members have already entered.  Further details can be seen on the dedicated website: Click Here

Sunday 19th April – Relay Championships – Forest of Dean

Club Captain Martin Wilson is hoping to have a few teams entered for this event which follows Saturday’s Individual event on an adjacent area.  If you have not already notified Martin and would like an opportunity to run in a BKO team, e-mail him urgently (see Members Update e-mail for the address)

Newsletter

This is my first call for material for the May Newsletter which I hope to have available at our first Summer Series event on the 2nd May.  If you have plans to get something to me, the earlier the better please as timing will be quite tight with the JK and the British Championships happening before then.  Final deadline for material will be Friday 24th April.
