We hope that you enjoyed your run on Sunday with the woods looking their best with all the bluebells.
Thank you for coming
We arranged parking along the road since in past years the farmer's field has been unusable at event time. Back in late February there was a lake in front of the taller mast and the whole area was a quagmire. In contrast this year the woods are much drier in April than expected.
Also a big thank you to all the BKO helpers, to Judy and Alan Nesbit for their excellent courses, Mark Thompson the Controller, Yattendon Estates , and Mr Breakspear for the access .
UNFORTUNATELY we were shocked to be told by an angry home owner that he had seen two competitors climb the fence into his garden damaging his new hedge.
They had climbed the fence, come through the garden and then pushed through a ‘vulnerable hedge’.
But rather than getting lost this it seems to be route choice issue: Runners on Brown could conceivably think that from Control 10 going south of the OOB field and along the road is a valid option .
It may have been valid if there were gaps in the difficult often impassable thick hedges/barbed wire fences - but there are none. However the fence into the garden is easy to climb . Consequently they trespassed and damaged a new hedge. No excuses - the house and garden are marked in the Dark Olive shade as OOB. They should have turned back.
But they trespassed and should be disqualified.
The Key point here is that it could endanger future use of the area given its a small community who will have links to the forest owner Yattendon Estate.
YOU MUST NEVER go into Out of Bounds areas.
